Definition
An application of the Japanese Kaizen philosophy of continuous incremental improvement to content creation, coined by Roberto Blake. Kaizen (改善) means 'change for better' and is the management philosophy behind Toyota's manufacturing excellence. Roberto Blake's creator-specific framework applies Kaizen principles to content production: rather than waiting for a perfect video or a viral moment, creators should focus on making each video 1% better than the last — improving thumbnails, audio quality, scripting, retention, or calls to action in small, measurable increments. Over 100 videos, these compounding improvements produce dramatic quality and performance gains.
