Gigabit

Also known as:Gbpsgigabit internet

Definition

A gigabit (Gb) is a unit of digital information equal to one billion bits, commonly used to describe internet connection speeds. Gigabit internet (1 Gbps) provides extremely fast upload and download speeds, enabling seamless 4K video uploads, real-time cloud editing, and high-quality live streaming. Gigabit connections are increasingly available through fiber-optic ISPs and are considered the gold standard for professional content creators who regularly transfer large video files or stream at high bitrates. Not to be confused with gigabyte (GB), which is 8 times larger.
