The process of applying criteria to narrow down a set of content, data, or search results to a relevant subset. In the creator economy, filtering operates at multiple levels: platform-level content filtering (algorithmic or manual moderation that determines which content is shown or suppressed), audience-level filtering (viewers selecting content by topic, format, or creator), and creator-level filtering (curating which content to publish, promote, or archive). Filtering is also a key UX feature of creator tools — including dictionary sites, content libraries, and analytics dashboards — enabling users to navigate large data sets efficiently.
