Definition
Slang originating in internet culture describing a sudden, emotionally unregulated public breakdown or outburst — typically on social media — in which a creator or public figure posts impulsive, aggressive, or emotionally raw content in response to criticism, conflict, or personal distress. A creator who "crashes out" typically loses composure publicly, often posting content they later regret or delete. Crash outs can permanently damage a creator's reputation, alienate their audience, and create lasting negative associations with their brand. The term is used both descriptively and as a cautionary concept in creator mental health discussions.
