Definition
Stabilization in video production refers to techniques and technologies used to reduce or eliminate unwanted camera movement and shake from footage. Methods include optical image stabilization (OIS) built into lenses, in-body image stabilization (IBIS) in cameras, electronic stabilization (EIS) applied in-camera or in post-production, and mechanical stabilization via gimbals and rigs. Stable footage is a fundamental quality marker for professional creator content.
