Definition
The act of publishing, launching, or releasing creative work — as opposed to continuing to refine it indefinitely. The term comes from software development ('ship the product') but has been adopted broadly in creative and entrepreneurial communities. Shipping is the antidote to perfectionism. It is the recognition that real feedback only comes from real audiences, and that the only way to improve is to put work into the world and learn from the response.
