IP Address

Also known as:IPinternet address

Definition

An IP (Internet Protocol) address is a unique numerical label assigned to every device connected to a computer network, used to identify and locate devices for communication. IPv4 addresses are formatted as four numbers separated by dots (e.g., 192.168.1.1), while IPv6 uses a longer hexadecimal format to accommodate the growing number of internet-connected devices. For creators, IP addresses are relevant in contexts including website analytics (geolocation of visitors), server management, VPN usage, and understanding how platform bans and geo-restrictions are enforced.
