Hue

Also known as:color hue

Definition

Hue is the attribute of a color that distinguishes it as red, orange, yellow, green, blue, violet, or any other color in the visible spectrum. It is one of the three primary properties of color, alongside saturation (intensity) and lightness/value (brightness). In video editing and color grading, hue adjustments allow editors to shift specific color ranges — for example, making a sky more blue or adjusting skin tones toward warmer or cooler values. Understanding hue is fundamental to color theory, graphic design, and video post-production.
