Frame Rate

Also known as:FPSframes per second

Definition

Frame rate is the frequency at which consecutive images (frames) are captured or displayed in a video, measured in frames per second (FPS). Frame rate is a fundamental parameter of video production that affects the visual feel, storage requirements, and platform compatibility of content. A 24fps frame rate produces the classic cinematic look associated with film, while 60fps delivers smooth, hyper-real motion preferred for gaming and sports content. Mismatched frame rates between camera footage and editing timeline can cause playback issues and require frame rate conversion.
