A dummy battery (also called a DC coupler) is a battery-shaped adapter that connects a camera's battery compartment to an external AC power adapter, allowing the camera to run continuously on wall power without battery drain. Dummy batteries are essential for creators who shoot long-form content, live streams, or time-lapses where battery life would otherwise be a limiting factor. They are camera-model specific and must be paired with the correct AC adapter. Using a dummy battery eliminates the need to pause production to swap batteries.
