Disinformation

Also known as:Deliberate MisinformationFalse Information

Definition

Disinformation is deliberately false or misleading information that is created and spread with the intent to deceive. Unlike misinformation (which may be spread without malicious intent), disinformation is purposeful — designed to manipulate public opinion, undermine trust, or achieve political or commercial objectives. Media literacy skills are essential for creators and audiences to identify and resist disinformation campaigns.
